Continuous rating 5000hp, one hour rating 7860hp, five minute rating still higher. Limit set by ability of loco to cool electrical systems. Weight 83.5 tons.

Fitted with ETS, rating 95 (= approx. 15 MKIII). This ETS is supplied from the tertiary wiring on the main transformer and could be adjusted if required.
RA 6 = the entire Railtrack overhead electrified network. Traction motors are bogie mounted, driving via a Layrub coupling to avoid the track impact damage which was produced by earlier AC locomotives.
All are 110 mph (and are therefore fitted with Bracknell-Willis Hi-Speed pantographs to allow this). May be possible to increase this to 125mph, but this may require (at least) re-gearing the traction motors.
Air brake only.
Fitted with BR standard Automatic Power Control (APC) system to control main (roof) circuit breaker on approach to neutral sections.
Compatible with the vast majority of hauled vehicles.
Fitted with the BR/Plessey TDM (Time Division Multiplex) push-pull operation system. This system uses the RCH jumpers on the intermediate coaches to pass control signals to the (pushing) locomotive from a Driving Van Trailer.
Suitable for freight haulage.
