| Porterbrook Announces Appointment to the Porterbrook Safety Committee | ||
30.03.2006 Chris Heaps, a non-executive director of Porterbrook between 2000 and 2002, has been invited back by the company to chair the Porterbrook Safety & Operational Risk Committee. Chris Heaps is the Traffic Commissioner for the South Eastern & Metropolitan Traffic Area, the statutory regulator of HGVs and PSVs in that area. He was previously a partner in a City firm of solicitors - Eversheds (formerly Jaques & Lewis) - and a member of the Council of The Law Society between 1985 and 1997 with particular responsibility for part of that time for the Solicitors' Complaints Bureau. He was also the Chairman of the Railway Study Association between 1997 and 2003, and is a founder and current member of the Railway Heritage Trust Advisory Committee. |
Between 1985 and 1992 he was appointed by the Secretary of State as a Deputy Chairman of the London Regional Transport Committee ("LRPC"), and between 1991 and 1997 was appointed by the Lord Chancellor as a member of the Council on Tribunals. Paul Francis, Porterbrook’s Managing Director welcomes Chris Heaps’ return to Porterbrook as the company will be able to utilise his broad industry experience in his role as Chairman and advisor on the Safety Committee. |
